Since the publication of the first edition of "Therapeutic Strategies in Emergency Medicine" in 1998, we have continuously expanded, revised, and updated the therapeutic guidelines for the various medical conditions encountered daily by emergency physicians. This process culminated in the recent paperback release of the fourth edition in 2012.

Over the years, the therapeutic protocols presented have aimed to support both trainees and practicing emergency physicians, as well as other specialists involved in urgent care, facing rapid decision-making scenarios. Nevertheless, despite emergency units increasingly becoming the primary access point to healthcare systems—necessitating an ongoing broadening of medical knowledge—this book has never aspired to function as a comprehensive internal medicine treatise. Its scope is primarily focused on pathologies whose severity or complexity of immediate treatment requires quick, written guidelines to assist decision-making.

Each chapter has been thoroughly reviewed with an evidence-based approach, focusing on therapeutic regimens applicable to the diseases covered in the index. The intention was not to delve into detailed pathophysiological mechanisms or disease etiology, which are more appropriate for other texts. Instead, emphasis has been placed on methodical management of each emergency, presented in accessible language to facilitate mental visualization of necessary steps toward successful treatment. In the fast-paced context of emergency medicine—where decision-making time is limited—clear and practical guidance is essential for clinicians to administer appropriate interventions promptly. This philosophy underpins the entire work.

I would like to acknowledge the dedicated efforts of all medical collaborators involved in developing this book and its accompanying mobile application. Our collective goal is that users find these resources to be swift, effective tools for clarifying therapeutic procedures and contributing to successful patient outcomes. Achieving this goal would validate the value of our efforts.
